Vüqar Abbasov has been elected as the President of the Nakhchivan Football Federation.

At the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Football Federation, the results of the past year and the tasks ahead were discussed.

At the event, the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Ramil Haji, stated that there are 17 stadiums and 28 mini-football fields in the autonomous republic, and currently, 1,244 youth and adolescents are actively engaged in football across 100 groups. In order to increase the interest in football among the population, especially the younger generation, 10 stadiums have been overhauled and put into operation: 4 in the Sharur district, 2 in the Julfa district, 2 in the Sadarak district, and 1 each in the Ordubad and Kangarli districts.

It was noted that in recent years, seminars and courses for coaches and referees, an international tournament for youth football teams, new seasons of the Regional League, futsal and beach football’s first professional league and championships have been held. Additionally, the implementation of AFFA’s “Girls Can” and UEFA’s “Grassroots” projects has been ensured. Thanks to local and international cooperation, targeted steps have been taken for the implementation of future plans. The Vice President of the Federation, Sakit Rzayev, provided detailed information about the federation’s activities from the previous year.

At the reporting-election meeting, the new president of the federation was introduced to the public. Vüqar Abbasov, Chairman of the Board of the Confederation of Entrepreneurs and President of the “Cahan Holding” Business Association, was elected as the President of the Nakhchivan Football Federation. Vüqar Abbasov stated that, just like in all other sectors, significant work is being done in the field of sports in the autonomous republic. He noted that the interest of the youth in sports has increased due to the favorable conditions created. Expressing gratitude for the trust placed in him, Vüqar Abbasov emphasized that the Football Federation will take systematic steps towards the development of football in the autonomous republic, and they will work hard in this direction.
